Tastes of Marrakesh: A Moroccan Dinner Party

Friday 20th June (Evening: 19:30 – 23:30) Saturday 21st June (Evening: 19:30 – 23:30) Sunday 1st June (Afternoon: 14:00 – 18:30)

Our next world cuisine secret supper takes us to Northern Africa with a four-course feast of traditional Moroccan fare. Inspired by a passion for food, people and conversation, our supper club is an intimate private dining room created to satisfy appetites for a friendly and adventurous eating experience.

We ask no more of our guests than that they arrive with a civilised manner, something to drink and a financial contribution. In return, they’ll enjoy a set menu where food is key, but there’s also the chance to explore the rooms of Talliston and stay around after dinner to chat with fellow diners. It’s a unique experience of a kind that simply can’t be located on the high street.

The Great War 100th Anniversary Poetry Night

Friday 1st August (Evening: 19:00 – 22:30)

Over nine million soldiers died as a result and nearly six million civilians lost their lives to disease or starvation. Guests can listen or bring their own favourite passages to share with the audience.

Light refreshment and canapés.

Free event. Suggested contribution of £5 to our charities.

Volunteer Weekend (Summer Bank Holiday)

Saturday 23rd August

This Summer Bank Holiday why not be part of our unique and exciting project.

Part of the magic of Talliston is that the entire project has been achieved by ordinary people and without outside funding or support. We know that people are fascianted by the time and detail of the house and gardens – and would like to find out more about how it was created and help take the project forward. That is why we are committed to involving volunteers in our work. Roles are varied, but be assured that you'll be joining a team of friends who all have a passion for helping us build and upkeep the house, get involved in gardening or even working on creating the next room.

A Second Grand Day Out

Sunday 24th August (10:00 – 17:00)

A free Friends of Talliston day out to the English countryside, visiting our newly planted oaks in Heartwood Forest, a BYO picnic or pub lunch – and for our circle of writers, an afternoon of writing exercises.

We will start the day with a ramble to visit Heartwood Forest near Sandridge, St Albans, where we are helping The Woodland Trust create an 850-acre wood from open fields, transforming a site with little value into beautiful broadleaved woodland. The site already boasts 45 acres of precious ancient woodland and by planting an additional 600,000 trees we will be part of creating the largest new native forest in England.

Then we will decamp for lunch – with the choices being a grand picnic lunch in the nearby meadows or, if picnicking is not your thing, at the Queen'’s Head, a traditional English pub serving freshly cooked food, cask ales and a wide selection of beverages. Just two and half miles from the centre of St. Albans, the pub is a great place to kick back and relax away from the daily grind.

We will be travelling in a series of pooled cars from Talliston. Register your interest here, or by emailing: info@talliston.com.
