Talliston Presents:

Brighid's Flame

A music and storytelling adventure staged in our late Victorian watchtower

Saturday 4th August 2018 (14:30 & 18:00)

Bríghid’s Flame – pronounced ‘breeds flame’ – are Kevan Manwaring & Chantelle Smith, both specialists in bardic tales and song. They have been performing their unique blend of storytelling, ballad-singing, poetry and music (harp, guitar, shruti box, bodhran, bones) since 2014. Their shows have been performed in theatres (the Rondo Theatre, Bath) and at festivals (New Forest Fairy Fest). Their love of mythology, folklore and prehistory informs their performances.

In Forged From The Flames, Chantelle introduces you to the wealth of inspiration behind The Hallows, from the trip to Ireland that brought the places in the myths and legends to life, to the traditional songs and stories passed down through the ages, and the new songs from both the show and beyond that was inspired by the mythology and land of Ireland. The second show is called The Hallows, a tale from the future in the ancient storytelling tradition. Bríghid’s Flame: The Hallows goes into darker territory – mixing Irish mythology with post-apocalyptic setting! For adults and older children. When the world ends, what stories will you tell around the fire?
