The Six Senses of Talliston
A series of unique tours & workshops exploring how to bring new dimensions to your life and home.
Talliston House & Gardens is not just a feast for your eyes, it encompasses all the senses to create its unique interiors. We get asked constantly to share the ways we combine fragrance, music, food and all manner of tactile materials – and these special events are in a direct response to those requests.
Each event will highlight one aspect of this individual approach to interior design, including a focused tour, themed workshop, in-depth Q&A, food and refreshments. Each event will last a minimum of three and a half hours giving plenty of time to fully explore and experience each of the showcased senses.
THE FIRST SENSE OF TALLISTON: SMELL
THE SECOND SENSE OF TALLISTON: SIGHT
THE THIRD SENSE OF TALLISTON: TASTE
Definitely the tour for the foodies, this workshop will explore a smorgasbord of flavours as we take a journey of food and drink around the world and through the ages. With tasting platters and demonstrations for expanding your cooking choices, we experience the five basic tastes: bitter, sweet, sour, salty, and savoury inspired by the Talliston locations. To finish we focus on the gardens, and their produce of grapes, herbs, fruit and vegetables.
THE FOURTH SENSE OF TALLISTON: SOUND
Above all senses, hearing is regarded as the most powerful of the senses and why to many people music is arguably the highest and most influential of the arts. In each location of the house and gardens, hidden speakers and visible period pieces are utilised to create a film-like score. This workshop explores the soundtrack of the house and how music and sound effects are used instead of clocks to create the aural backdrops to each room.
